You can play an important role in helping themby learning more about the Marketplace and HealthCare.gov. Open enrollment starts on November 1. Coverage can start as early as January 1. Your patients can apply for coverage and enroll online at HealthCare.gov. Your patients can also apply and enroll over the phone by calling the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596. Representatives are available to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Help is also available from people in your community, who are trained to assist with applications and enrollment. Visit LocalHelp.HealthCare.gov to find assisters in your area. One application will check for eligibility for Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or coverage through a Marketplace plan. Most people are required by law to have health insurance, or they must pay a fee with their tax return. And that fee goes up every year.
